If you are of the opinion that there is nothing more comforting than a combination of cats, coffee, and cake, then Pee Pees Katzencafé is likely to become your new favourite place in the city. Located on a quiet street in Berlin’s hip Neukölln area, Pee Pees is Berlin’s first and only cat-café. In fact, it feels more like a home than a café, with its endearing cat décor and plush cushioned benches. Try not to be too distracted with hunting for the main attraction while owner Andrea Kollmorgen takes your order; there is plenty of time after eating to stroke cats Pelle and Caruso to your heart’s delight. Laminated cards on all the tables inform you of the dos and don’ts for cat-petting, and the entire establishment feels lovingly maintained by Kollmorgen, who clearly considers both the cats’ and guests’ safety a priority. It’s impossible not to feel utterly joyful, sipping a delicious coffee (€2.00) and munching homemade carrot cake (€3.50) while watching a cat recline on the bench beside you. This may be the most relaxing place in Berlin.
